FAQ
Which should I choose, Catapilla™ or Fatcat?
The most noticeable difference between the two units is that the Catapilla™ is modular. It is made up of individual body units stacked one on top of another, whilst the Fatcat is formed of a single tube. Both cat furniture units feature access holes to climb through the body section, but the Catapilla™ holes can be rotated whereas the Fatcat’s are fixed into position permanently as it is a single unit.
For Wear and Tear, Opt for a Catapilla™
If you are worried about wear and tear through scratching then a Catapilla™ is a better bet than a Fatcat – this is simply because if serial scratching happens it will generally be to a favourite spot on your cat furniture and if this occurs, you’re better off with a Catapilla™ than a Fatcat as you’ll be able to rotate or swap out body units on the former.
What makes the coir used on Hicat® products easy to climb?
We tested lots of different finishes when we started Hicat® and found that the coir boucle that we use is the best for climbing as it has a ribbed weave forming horizontal loops. This means that your cat’s claws can easily grip and retract when climbing than compared to other finishes.
Can we stack our Catapilla™ more than four units high?
Yes, but we strongly advise against it as the product has been specifically designed around a maximum of four assembled units with a base. Exceeding this height may lead to the unit toppling over or breaking. If you want to go higher than four units then a wall mounting kit is the best option to secure the structure.
